Hey! I am Navraj Sikand. I am an 18 year old student who is going to be studying computer science at the Arizona State University starting in fall 2024. I am a deeply curious person and I take deep interest in a wide range of topics. This is reflected by my hobbies and interests. Once I start to get interested, I pour my heart into the topic. This is allowed to me to learn a lot about even the most challenging subjects in short amounts of time. My broad interests include technology, the sciences, maths, sports, diet, philosophy. linguistics, history and politics.
I am fascinated by technology more than anything else. I see technology as a way to implement and use my knowledge of all my other interests in the real world. I see it as a way of effectively getting desired outcomes in situations that need a multi-directional approach to solve them.
Out of the core sciences, physics is my favourite one. I have spent countless hours trying to grapple with the mysteries of the universe. I find physics' way of describing the majestic universe in terms of quantitative and measurable items as fascinating. For me, describing how an object will behave under certain conditions and how we can explain what happens and how it happens with fundamental principles like the principle of least action or the law of conservation of energy is mesmerizing. The fact that all these laws and principles beautifully come up just by understanding the simple symmetries of the universe is nothing short of magic.
I also like to pay attention to some basic biology as understand our bodies is the first step to leading a better life and I love devoting my time to making myself better each and every little by little.
Maths has always been of great interest to me since it is the language we use to describe the universe in physics. The fact that we can link these abstract mathematical notations and functions to real world objects and actions is mind blowing to me. I also enjoy maths regardless of its usefulness. I am always interested in doing maths just because. I find it fun to try to computer different types of integrals and that allows me to learn more and more about the far corners of the mathematical world.
I have always been a sportsman. A huge part of my character and personality has been developed through sports. I am a national-level swimmer, a state-level basketball player and an avid gym goer. I have also played chess, table tennis and lawn tennis at various junior levels. Having practiced under strict coaches, I have learned the qualities of punctuality and perseverance and I have learned not to be deterred by my setbacks and to learn from my mistakes to be better every single time.
Since I started going to the gym about 2 years ago, I have started to focus more on my health and this has led me to learn more about diet. I learned to control my calories and learned how I can build muscle and lose unwanted body fat. I also learned how to cook so that I could get myself nutritionally rich meals conveniently.
I am an extremely analytical individual and I feel my like and dislike emotions vibrantly. If i dislike something I will have paragraphs and paragraphs describing precisely why I dislike it. Similarly, if I like something I will go at length to describe just why it is that I like that thing.
As I continue to explore, learn, and grow, I invite you to join me on this journey. Feel free to explore my interests with me through my website, where I share blogs, newsletters, and detailed accounts of my software development projects. This space is dedicated to my diverse passions, and I look forward to connecting with fellow enthusiasts and curious minds. Welcome to my personal space, where discovery and innovation are just a click away.
